Ginkaku-ji Temple

The Silver Pavilion is an expression of the Japanese aesthetic sense referred to as wabisabi.

Though built based on Kinkaku-ji Temple, this temple features a more laid back feel. There is also a modernistic white sand garden. Despite the name, silver leaf was not used on any of the buildings.

HOURS 8:30am-5:20pm (entrance until 5:00pm), Open 9:00am-4:50pm (entrance until 4:30pm, special viewing from 10:00am-3:30pm) from Dec. thru Feb. of the following year
