Over 1,000 Pikachu take over Yokahama's Minato Mirai Area During "Pikachu Outbreak!"
Calling all Pokemon lovers! There's been an outbreak of over 1,000 Pikachu again this year in the Minato Mirai area of Yokohama. And with all the buzz about Pokémon GO right now, the timing for this event couldn't be better! The theme of this year's "Pikachu Outbreak!" event is water-- perfect for a hot summer day in Japan! The event period is August 7th through the 14th. DiGJAPAN! went to have a look at the scene on the ground and brought back plenty of pictures and videos to share with you!
We find out first signs of the Pikachu outbreak inside Minato Mirai Station with this giant balloon and plenty of signs.

Don't forget to grab one of these cute Pikachu sun visors before leaving the station!

★ Queen’s Square YOKOHAMA
・Pikachu March
The highlight of this area is definitely the Pikachu parade. The way they move along is adorable, although they seem to find getting out of the elevator a little tricky...
・Pikachu Stage Show “Smile! Smile! Smile!”
It turns out that Pikachu are pretty talented performers, too, as you can see during the stage show "Smile! Smile! Smile!" Here we also see an unusual black, angry Pikachu... Will someone be able to make this Pikachu smile again?

★ LANDMARK PLAZA
・Pikachu Stage Show “Pikachu Island”
You can take in another Pikachu show, "Pikachu Island," at Landmark Plaza. You would not believe how well these little guys can dance. Get your cameras ready to catch them busting a groove!

★ Sail Training Ship NIPPON MARU/ NIPPON MARU Memorial Park
・Captain Pikachu Greetings
Given that Minato Mirai is a seaport, it wouldn't do if they didn't have some nautically themed sights. You can purchase a ticket to board the Nippon Maru and meet the ship's captain, Pikachu!
・Pikachu Stomp Show
Here you can also check out the "Pikachu Stomp Show," where a bunch of Pikachu dressed as sailors get their tap dance on. Again, be prepared to be impressed by just how good they are.

・Pikachu Outbreak on Lawn Square
At the Pikachu Outbreak on Lawn Square there are a bunch of small Pikachu just waiting to pose with you for a selfie or two.

★ JR Sakuragicho Station / Sakuragicho Station Open Space
・Pikachu Balloon Outbreak
If you walk to Sakuragicho Station, the next station on the Minato Mirai Line, you'll see Pikachu Balloon Outbreak-- a collection of small, medium, and large balloon Pikachu. And when we say, large, we mean it. Get a load of the size of this guy!

★ YOKOHAMA WORLD PORTERS
・Pikachu Hula Dance Show
Because it wouldn't be summer without some hula dancing, right? Drift away on a Hawaiian breeze as you watch these adorable Pikachu do the hula.

★ Souvenirs!
From plushie Pikachu to your very own Pikachu backpack, you're likely to fall in love with the souvenirs they sell during the event.

In addition to what we covered above, there's also a fun "splash show" at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse and much more going on during the event period. This event won't last long, so be sure to hurry to Yokohama while the outbreak lasts!
