Home to Stunning Nature Sprawling Across Central Hokkaido

The Hidakasanmyaku-Erimo-Tokachi National Park spans the central southern area of Hokkaido, and is the largest national park in the land area of Japan, primarily straddling the Hidaka Mountains.
The park encompasses mountain ranges over 1,900 meters in height, including Mount Poroshiri, the highest peak in the Hidaka Mountains at 2,052 meters, and is one of the most pristine natural environments in the country. Witness marine terraces, sea cliffs and reefs along the particularly distinctive coastal scenery, particularly at Cape Erimo at the southern area of the park.

The vast Tokachi Plain offers the opportunity to enjoy cycling while taking in the striking mountain scenery. Mt. Apoi is also registered as a Global Geopark, with information available in foreign languages including English. In summer, take in the view of fields of flowers containing a broad range of alpine plants.

Hidakasanmyaku-Erimo-Tokachi National Park and its surrounding areas are home to the rich natural splendor of the Hidaka Mountains—explore the Ainu culture that is showcased in particular in the Nibutani area, and witness fishing processes in action, like drying kelp, owing to the thriving kelp and sea urchin industry along the coast.
