Shimogamo Shrine

下鴨神社

 

 

This old shrine is surrounded by lush forest, as if being protected by nature.

The road leading to this temple runs through the Tadasu no Mori Forest and has a sacred air to it. The temple was known as the home of a god watching over the capital when Kyoto was designated as Japan's capital, approximately 1200 years ago.
