To-ji (Kyoo-Gokoku-ji) Temple

東寺(教王護国寺)

 

 

This temple is known for its wooden five-storied pagoda - the tallest of its kind in Japan.

This esoteric Buddhist temple was built over 1200 years ago. The world of mandala is brought to life by the statues of Buddha in the Kodo Hall. The temple is also known for its Kobo Ichi Market, held on the 21st of each month.
