Hiroshima Castle

A powerful landmark of Hiroshima

This castle was originally built in 1589. It was destroyed by the atomic blast and subsequently rebuilt in 1958. The history of the castle and a model of its original appearance are on display inside. You can try on a samurai helmet and armor at the hands-on corner. There is also an observation area located on the top floor where you can look out over the city of Hiroshima.

ACCESS From JR Hiroshima Station, take the Hiroshima Electric Railway bound for Hiroden-miyajima-guchi and get off at Kamiya-cho-higashi Sta. (approx. 13 min). Hiroshima Castle is about a 15 min walk north of the stop.
