- Dejima
This was the single port of trade open to the West during Japan's policy of seclusion.
The Dutch trading house was located here from 1641 to 1859 and acted as a center of commerce between Japan and the Netherlands. At present, the gate and trading house have been reconstructed in an area of approximately 200m along Nakashimagawa River, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of Dejima that existed during that time.
