As of April 2015, visitors cannot enter within a 1 km radius of the crater. Accordingly, the Mt. Aso ropeway is also currently out of service.

ACCESS	Near Kako Nishi ropeway station. 40 min. ride on Sanko Bus bound for Asosan Nishi Staion from Aso Station on JR Hohi Main Line. 4 min. ride on ropeway from Asosan Nishi Staion.
