Summer in Hokkaido means it's time for lavender! You'll be amazed by the sprawling fields of purple unfolding before you as you travel following this two-day plan. Please note that this plan was made based on information from the summer of 2015. The schedules of tour trains and buses for the summer of 2016 are not yet finalized.

Reflections of the warehouses and the light from the gas lamps on the surface of the water take visitors back in time.

This is a particularly popular restaurant located on “Sushi Street,” home to many restaurants specializing in sushi. The daily lunch special called Shun no Gokan is a good value at 1,500 yen. You can also order a la carte if you would prefer.

Asahiyama Zoo

This is the northernmost zoo in Japan. Enjoy the silly antics of penguins, polar bears, and seals. Opening hours change depending on the season, so confirm in advance.

Ramen no Hachiya Gojo Store

Dig into delicious soy sauce ramen for only 750 yen. This restaurant boasts a rich broth made from seafood and pork bones.

Furano Biei Norokko-go Train

The Furano Biei Norokko-go train runs every day from late June to mid August, and on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays during early/mid June and from late August to mid October. (Operating schedule may change without notice. Check timetable in advance.)

Farm Tomita

The fields are filled with breathtaking lavender from mid to late June. This area also has restaurant and cafe spaces where you can enjoy curry made with fresh Hokkaido vegetables or desserts flavored with lavender.

Nakafurano Municipal Lavender Garden

Entry to the park is free. Round-trip on the Sightseeing Lift is 300 yen person. Ride the lift to enjoy a sweeping view of the flower fields.

- 10 min. walk → Naka-furano Station → 8 min. ride on the Furano Biei Norokko-go (230 yen) → Furano Station → brief walk → JR Furano Eki-mae Bus Platform
Twinkle Bus Furano-Asahikawa route

- COST:2,500 YEN
Travel by bus from Furano to Asahikawa, making stops at the following tourist spots along the way. Only passengers of the Furano Biei Norokko-go train can board this bus; prior booking is also required.

The peak of the Furano lavender season is late July; however, some varieties bloom from late June while other late blooming varieties remain until early August.
