Imperial Palace

The Imperial Palace is located where Edo Castle once stood.

This has been the location of the Imperial Palace since the Emperor Meiji moved there in 1868. A visit inside required advance registration, but the Niji-bashi iron bridge stretching over the moat, the Sakuradamon Gate and more, and surrounding area are open to the public.

HOURS Entrance at 10:00am and 1:30pm (2 times per day, visits last 1 hour 15 minutes, reservation required, mornings only from 7/21 to 8/31)
CLOSED Weekends/Holidays
NOTES RE: CLOSINGS Temporary closures during certain events. Closed Dec. 28 to Jan. 4.
