Nijo Castle

元離宮二条城

 

 

This was originally built as accomodations for when the shogun visited Kyoto.

This castle lies in the heart of Kyoto and was built around 400 years ago. Within the Ninomaru Palace is a room that the shogun once used. There are three gardens on the grounds.

HOURS 8:45am-5:00pm (entrance until 4:00pm)
NOTES RE: CLOSINGS Closed Tue. During Jul./Aug./Dec./Jan. Closed on the following day if it falls on a national holiday. Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 4.
