Ueno Zoological Gardens

Around 3 million people visit this zoo - the oldest in Japan - each year.

This was the first zoo in Japan when it opened in 1882. 450 difference species of animal are represented here, but the most popular have probably the giant pandas whose image you can find on almost everything in the Ueno area.
