Hiroshima Prefecture's Onomichi City is the starting point of Shimanami Kaido (toll road) on the Honshu side, that is where ONOMICHI U2 was built in 2014. Formerly a warehouse of the marine, renovated into a facility for cyclists and services regarding bicycles. Particularly bicycle lovers, but also those who are not that fascinated will enjoy the stylish atmosphere.
There are about 2000 square metres with restaurants, shops and even a hotel inside the warehouse. The high ceiling creates an open space.
Half of the ONOMICHI U2 building is a "Cycle Hotel". Recently about 30% of the hotel guests are foreigners from the US or Taiwan.
The rooms include hangers for bicycles, to put them on the wall. And there is even a repair area in the shared space, for maintenance of the bicycles. The perfect hotel for cyclists.
The store provides an English guide book with important points when cycling, for foreign tourists.
Additionally there are restaurants serving fresh ingredients from Setouchi, a bakery selling products made in collaboration with local manufacturers and a lifestyle shop, all in one complex.
People coming to ONOMICHI U2 are not only tourists or cyclists. Locals have often dinner in the restaurants, so that cyclists and tourists and locals can easily get in touch with each other. Even if you just like to walk by to get a glimpse at the goods, you may end up having tea at the cafe, buying at the select shop or even rent a bike to cycle. The misterious charm of ONOMICHI U2 is definitely worth visiting.

The you can get sports bikes at the Gaiant Store Onomichi of the internationally known taiwanese bicycle maker GIANT. You can also rent bikes from the store. They have beginner bikes, but also cross-road bikes for the more advanced.The store provides an English guide book with important points when cycling, for foreign tourists.

On the outside of the building there is a coin shower and public toilet, the coin shower costs 100 Yen for 5 minutes.Restaurants and shops being packed with the charm of Setouchi
