March 14, 2018 marked the inauguration of a new Pokémon Center in Tokyo. The official Pokémon shop opened in the Takashimaya department store in Nihonbashi and it's the first of its kind to also feature a cafe. It's also the biggest in the history of Pokémon Centers boasting a size of about 1,300 square meters.
Pokémon Center Tokyo DX and the Pokémon Café are both located on the 5th floor of Nihonbashi Takashimaya S.C. East Building. The district of Nihonbashi is a very fitting location too since the first Pokémon Center in history opened here back in 1997.
You will find the cafe to the left when you get to the 5th floor. A reservation is required so make sure you book your seats on their website before visiting. You don't have to rush, however, since the cafe is a permanent addition.
The cafe is spacious and filled with large statues of some of the most iconic Pokémon. Be sure to look around, you'll find all kinds of exhibits on the shelves and tables!
The Pokémon Cafe offers a variety of Pokémon themed food and drinks. Every single dish is so cute and detailed that it's a shame to eat them.
Let's start with the food menu! The Pikachu fans won't want to miss the Pikachu curry rice and the Pikachu carbonara with Pikachu's tail sticking out.
But you don't have to stop here. The Snorlax hamburger doria (rice gratin) and the Eevee burger also look amazing. They're both filled with delicious meat and the balance between their size and cuteness is perfect!
If you are looking to try a little bit of everything, I would recommend the Pikachu Plate Lunch. A variety of tastes served on a Pikachu shaped dish that you can even take home.
The dessert menu is also abundant! You'll be able to choose between popular sweets like pancakes, cheesecake, crepes and parfait. Of course, all are Pokémon themed as well. They all look delicious!
Ready to pick a drink? The cafe offers so many and they even have original cups and mugs that you can purchase. The Pikachu and Eevee Café Latte mugs make great souvenirs. Also, if you order a drink you get one of six different kinds of coasters!
Be sure to also check the goods and sweets that are exclusive to the Pokémon Café.
Here you'll find all kinds of souvenirs to please both kids and grown-ups. You can share the cuteness of the characters with everyone!
Now that we have a full stomach it's time to go shopping. Let's drop by the Pokémon Center Tokyo DX, right next to the cafe. The Pokémon Center is a shop that offers all kinds of Pokémon goods. Right from the start you're greeted by videos, images, and even a life-sized Snorlax statue. It really sets the mood and will make you excited to enter.
When I entered, the first thing I saw was the neatly stacked Pokémon Center Tokyo DX opening memorial goods. All the items you see in the pictures, like the Pikachu-themed Nihonbashi sightseeing map are only available in this Takashimaya store.
Going further into the store you'll be overwhelmed by the experience. You are surrounded in every direction by Pokémon. It's like a dream!
The whole space is completely covered in Pokémon!
When you come to Pokémon Center Tokyo DX, there is one more thing that you absolutely can't miss. The massive touch screen on this wall is an interactive Pokédex featuring 9 languages.
I tried using it and they have information on every Pokémon. It's fun to use and a must-see for any Pokémon fan!
