11 Sakura-Flavored Sweets and Drinks in Spring 2020

You can't say Japanese spring without saying sakura. The beloved cherry blossoms appear every year not only on the trees, but also on all kinds of limited edition sweets, snacks and drinks.
Here's a collection of sakura-flavored items that you can find this year in convenience stores, supermarkets and souvenir shops!

Sakura Custard Tokyo Banana

For starters we have Tokyo's trademark souvenir, Tokyo Banana! These incredibly soft mini-cakes normally come with a creamy custard filling. For the spring season they've flavored the custard with sakura and decorated the cakes with a lovely sakura flower design.

Sakuramochi and Sakura Cream Daifuku

7-Eleven also features a cherry blossom collection every year. This time we picked two Japanese-style sweets with a beautiful pastel pink color. The daifuku rice cake is a puffy, chewy sweet filled with delicate sakura-flavored cream inside. The sakura mochi has a chunky red bean paste filling and is decorated with a sakura flower.

After all these snacks, don't you feel like a drink? Don't worry, the spring sakura craze also extends to beverages. First, we scouted the alcoholic drinks aisle and found this cherry and peach chuhai (4% alc.). It's sweet and goes down smoothly.
For a non-alcoholic option we picked up a yummy sakura milk tea by Lipton, a delicious twist on the regular milk tea.
