The Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store—connected directly to Umeda Station, Osaka's main terminal—is a cutting-edge department store that is always at the forefront the latest trends. Our vision is not only to make shopping enjoyable, but to also convey the stories behind so many things and deliver fresh values. This particular spirit is also evident in the creations set up in the show windows throughout the concourse.
Striking show windows that entice passers-by
The 1F concourse, where some 300,000 people a day make their way through, features a series of seven gigantic windows with decorations that match the interior styling and particular season—a layout reminiscent of an art gallery. These designs have been in place since reopening after renovations in the fall of 2012. They were created with the hope that visitors will find it exciting to venture into stores via the creations in the windows that provide a glimpse into the world view underpinning the theme of stores.
The annual "Valentine's Day Chocolate Expo 2024" chocolate festival is being held through to February 14, 2024. The expo features a collection of some 300 brands and 3,000 types of products from Japan and abroad. The show windows have been dressed up in a pop and colorful Valentine's Day style just for this event! Setting up the window designs took some 10 months of preparation. This year, the design has been created to appear like it is popping out of the glass and onto the floor, with photo spots set up in two locations.

One of the largest chocolate festivals in Japan
Valentine's Day Chocolate Expo 2024 - The main venue for the event on 9F features a selection of upcoming pastry shops and chocolatiers. The Art Stage dubbed "Mastering Caramel" provides visitors a closer insight into the world of caramel and chocolate. At "Cacao World," visitors are treated to a jungle-like world where they can learn about cacao and its allure, like where cacao is produced and its relationship with bananas.
Chocolates and sweets are also available on each level of the store, offering a range of characteristics to suit various demographics. Examples that illustrate this are the offerings of flower-themed sweets on sale in an area on 7F decorated with flowers, a healthy range of treats on 8F, and adorable animal-shaped chocolates on 10F.
