Enjoy the world's only! Ghibli Park in Aichi, where you can feel the story of Studio Ghibli

The film "The Boy and the Heron" won the 96th Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film in 2024, and Studio Ghibli's works are in the spotlight across the world. A park featuring the world of Studio Ghibli is now open in Aichi Prefecture; the Ghibli Park. Here we will introduce the highlights of this new park and how you can access.

Five Areas with Much to See and Do

Ghibli Park consists of five unique areas. Let's take a look at the exciting activities in each of the areas.

1. Ghibli's Grand Warehouse

ジブリパーク ジブリの大倉庫1

The Warehouse is like Ghibli's grand exposition, with the screening room, three special exhibitions, the shop, and café all in one giant facility. Just walking through the interior decorated in the motif of Ghibli's works is sure to be an exciting experience!

The heron from the Academy Award-winning film "The Boy and the Heron" is also on display.

On the second floor is Yubaba from "Spirited Away"! She is the "fake director" of Ghibli Park.

At the "Screening Room Cinema Orion", all 10 short animated shorts are screened one by one. Check out the official website to find which films are available when you visit!

Also, you can enjoy three special programs from the exhibitions that Studio Ghibli had presented in Japan and abroad at one place. At the Ghibli's Famous Scenes Exhibition, why don't you immerse yourself in the Ghibli’sworld?

The store carries a variety of Ghibli goods.
Inspired by the meals in the film, "Transcontinental Flight Café" offers sandwiches and pizzas - just like the one-handed meals long-distance pilots eat while flying in "Porco Rosso".

2. Valley of Witches

"Valley of Witches" is a European-style area inspired by Studio Ghibli works related witches, such as "Kiki's Delivery Service," "Howl's Moving Castle," and "Earwig and the Witch." There are buildings from the films as well as playgrounds, restaurants, and stores.

At Guchoki Bakery, featuring the one where Kiki and her black cat Gigi of "The Witch's Delivery Service" stay, it is available to buy and try breads!
*Bread sales may end when items are sold out.。

A castle with presence in the shape of a creature from "Howl's Moving Castle" is on the site. It's about 20 meters tall, and parts of the castle move and emit smoke several times an hour. Around the castle, a wasteland reminiscent of the scenes in the film spreads out, with the scarecrow Turnip Head standing quietly. You can vividly imagine Howl's life, with his bedroom full of magical tools and Calcifer's hearth.
*Note: Visitors with the "Ghibli Park O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium" can go inside "Howl's Castle."

There are two ride attractions inspired by a traveling fair that comes to the village once a year. The merry-go-round is decorated with motifs of vehicles, animals, and characters from films such as "Kiki's Delivery Service," "Howl's Moving Castle," and "Princess Mononoke." There are broomsticks, the Witch of the Wasteland's hand palanquin, and yakkles - it's hard to decide which one you want to ride!

3. Hill of Youth

ジブリパーク青春の丘

The "Hill of Youth" is an area inspired by "Whisper of the Heart" among others. It features the "Elevator Tower" and the "The Rotary," designed with a 19th-century science fantasy worldview. Around the plaza, you'll find "World Emporium" and "The Cat Bureau" from "The Cat Returns."

At "World Emporium," you can purchase postcards and stamp sheets, and send letters from the postbox. Why not try sending a letter with a Japanese postmark?

*Note: Visitors with the "Ghibli Park O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium" can go inside "World Emporium."

4. Dondoko Forest

Dondoko Forest

The area is inspired by "My Neighbor Totoro." There's "Dondoko-do" (a play structure) modeled after Totoro, and the house where the main character sisters -Satsuki and Mei- live. Listen closely and you can almost hear the laughter of Satsuki and Mei, and the sound of the dust bunnies in the kitchen, bathroom, tea room, Japanese-style room, and Western-style room.
You might find yourself spontaneously singing, "Come out, come out where you are!”

Take a walk or get lost in the forest, just like My Neighbor Totoro. You can have an experience that will bring you back to your childhood.

*Note: Visitors with the "Ghibli Park O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium" can go inside "Satsuki and Mei's House."

5. Mononoke Village

Mononoke Village1

The area is inspired by the rural mountain landscape from "Princess Mononoke." There is a "Tatara-ba" designed after the building in the film, playground equipment of "Lord Okkoto" and  a structure of the Demon Spirit.

At "Tatara-ba,"  you can experience charcoal-grilled Gohei-mochi, a local dish of Aichi Prefecture!
(Additional fees apply for the experience.)
