Meiji Shrine

明治神宮

 

 

One of Japan's best-known shrines, many people come here to pay their respects.

This shrine was built in 1920 in honor of Emperor Meiji and Empress Dowager Shoken. The spacious grounds are full of plantlife, including irises and wild cherry blossoms. Crystal clear water flows into a spring-fed well - a rarity in such an urban setting
