A Photo Report From Icho Namiki Avenue, a Must-Go Spot for Autumn Leaves in Tokyo

It's late November in Tokyo. The majestic Ginkgo trees that line Jingu Gaien Icho Namiki Avenue turn bright yellow, making this road one of the most popular leaf viewing spots in town.
As a bonus, the 2019 Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Festival is also held in the area from November 15th to December 1nd. Stalls selling delicious food will accompany your autumn stroll. If you're in Tokyo right now I definitely recommend a visit!

Get There From Aoyama-Itchome Station on the Tokyo Metro

The quickest way to get there is to take the Tokyo Metro to Aoyama-itchome. Take Exit 1, turn right and go straight. You will pass a Family Mart convenience store on you right. Keep walking and you will get to a crossing. At this point you will spot the rows of gorgeous Ginkgo trees on your right!

Aoyama-itchome (Exit 1 in the picture) is served by the Ginza Line, Hanzomon Line and Toei Oedo Line.

The Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Festival

The scenery was so beautiful that I couldn't take my finger off the camera shutter. Especially because this only occurs once a year! The road is crowded with all kinds of people. Locals, foreigners, people walking their dog, even a few people wearing a kimono.
If you take pictures from the crossing, be sure to watch out for cars.

Please note that this road is very crowded so always be mindful of other people.

So Many Food Stalls!

After all this walking and taking pictures we were really hungry! Right next to Icho Namiki Avenue is the festival area, with lots of  yatai (food stalls). They sell snacks, meals and desserts and they're open from 10:00am to 8:00pm. The festival area is set up in a big wide space. Here you can find table seats and rest while enjoying some delicious food.
